a selvage is the very edge of the fabric, where all of the threads come together in what looks like a frayed mess, but can actually be quite lovely

What a fun blog! I love the name of it too. I've always wondered, oes the term "selvage" come from combining "self" and "edge"? As in, the selvage is not an edge someone cut, but rather its own edge? Just curious.
I love that... I wonder???
